A live cricket book re-prices after every ball, and the size of the move depends far more on the state of the match than on what just happened. A boundary in the fourth over shifts the winner market by a few points. The same boundary in the nineteenth can move it by twenty, because there are almost no deliveries left in which to recover.

Every in-play bet passes through a delay of a few seconds during which the operator can re-offer the price or decline the bet. This exists because your television or app stream reaches you after the ball has already been bowled, and without the delay the book would be trading against people who know the result. It is standard and it is not negotiable. What follows from it matters more than the delay itself: you are always betting on slightly old information, and a price that suddenly looks generous mid-over is usually generous for a reason you cannot see yet.

IPL fixtures carry the deepest board and the tightest margin here, because the volume of money involved makes it worth pricing carefully. BPL games get a good board but a visibly wider margin on the secondary markets, and domestic fixtures below that get four or five markets and prices you should read twice. If you want the closest thing to a fair price, bet the match everybody else is betting.

A rain-shortened match settles on the revised result, which means a DLS adjustment can turn a comfortable position into a losing one without a ball being bowled at your expense. An abandoned match voids and returns the stake, but the void can take until the following morning to appear in the balance. Neither outcome is a mistake by the operator and neither is worth a support ticket on the night.
