Almost every guide written for this market covers bKash and Nagad and stops there. Rocket and Upay together move a serious share of money in Bangladesh, and both work here — just with a higher floor, a slower rail and a couple of habits worth learning before you send anything.
এই বাজারের জন্য লেখা প্রায় প্রতিটা গাইড bKash আর Nagad নিয়ে বলে সেখানেই থেমে যায়। Rocket আর Upay মিলে বাংলাদেশে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পরিমাণ টাকা নাড়ায়, আর দুটোই এখানে কাজ করে — কেবল বেশি ন্যূনতম সীমা, ধীর একটা পথ আর কিছু অভ্যাস নিয়ে, যা কিছু পাঠানোর আগে শিখে নেওয়া ভালো।
Before the first transfer
প্রথম লেনদেনের আগে
Confirm two things. The name on the wallet must match the name registered on the account, letter for letter — a shortened first name will let a deposit through and then block a withdrawal weeks later. And the amount must clear ৳200 on both of these rails, which is fifty taka above the bKash and Nagad floor. If the welcome match is the plan, ৳400 is the real minimum, and the offer cannot be attached to a deposit once it has already landed.
দুটো জিনিস নিশ্চিত করুন। ওয়ালেটের নাম অ্যাকাউন্টে নিবন্ধিত নামের সাথে অক্ষরে অক্ষরে মিলতে হবে — নামের সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ ডিপোজিটটা ঢুকতে দেবে আর সপ্তাহ কয়েক পরে উইথড্র আটকে দেবে। আর এই দুই পথেই অঙ্কটা ২০০ টাকা পেরোতে হবে, যা bKash ও Nagad-এর ন্যূনতম সীমার চেয়ে পঞ্চাশ টাকা বেশি। ওয়েলকাম ম্যাচ পরিকল্পনায় থাকলে আসল সর্বনিম্ন ৪০০ টাকা, আর ডিপোজিট পৌঁছে যাওয়ার পরে অফারটা তার সাথে জুড়ে দেওয়া যায় না।
Sending money through Rocket
Rocket দিয়ে টাকা পাঠানো
- Sign in, open the cashier and pick Rocket. A merchant number and a reference code appear on screen.
- সাইন ইন করে ক্যাশিয়ার খুলুন আর Rocket বেছে নিন। পর্দায় একটা মার্চেন্ট নম্বর আর একটা রেফারেন্স কোড আসে।
- Copy the merchant number every time. It changes between deposits, and yesterday’s number belongs to a session that has already closed.
- প্রতিবারই মার্চেন্ট নম্বরটা কপি করুন। এটা ডিপোজিটে ডিপোজিটে বদলায়, আর গতকালের নম্বরটা এমন এক সেশনের যা ইতিমধ্যেই বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে।
- In the Rocket app choose Send Money. Not Payment, not Bill Pay — the wrong option puts the transfer on a rail the cashier does not read.
- Rocket অ্যাপে Send Money বেছে নিন। Payment নয়, Bill Pay-ও নয় — ভুল অপশন লেনদেনটাকে এমন পথে বসায় যা ক্যাশিয়ার পড়ে না।
- Complete the transfer and keep the transaction ID from the confirmation screen.
- লেনদেন সম্পন্ন করুন আর নিশ্চিতকরণের পর্দা থেকে লেনদেন আইডিটা রেখে দিন।
- Paste that ID into the reference field back in the cashier and submit. Leaving it empty is what turns a one-minute deposit into a twenty-minute one.
- ক্যাশিয়ারে ফিরে গিয়ে ওই আইডিটা রেফারেন্স ঘরে বসিয়ে জমা দিন। এটা ফাঁকা রাখাই এক মিনিটের ডিপোজিটকে কুড়ি মিনিটের বানিয়ে দেয়।

Upay follows the same sequence with one difference worth knowing: it dropped off the deposit menu twice during our fortnight, once for about forty minutes and once overnight. Nothing was wrong with the accounts involved — the rail was simply offline. If Upay is missing from the cashier, that is what has happened, and the fix is to wait or use another wallet rather than to open a ticket.

What went wrong in our tests
আমাদের পরীক্ষায় কী কী ভুল হয়েছে
Three failures covered everything. One Rocket transfer was sent as Payment instead of Send Money and needed a live chat conversation with the transaction ID to reconcile — about thirty-five minutes. One deposit used a merchant number copied from an earlier session and sat unmatched for a quarter of an hour. And one Upay attempt failed because the rail was down, which resolved itself. None of the three needed a second transfer, and sending one while the first is unmatched creates a considerably more tedious problem.
তিনটে ব্যর্থতাই সবকিছুর হিসাব মিলিয়ে দিয়েছে। একটা Rocket লেনদেন Send Money-র বদলে Payment হিসেবে পাঠানো হয়েছিল আর মেলাতে লেনদেন আইডি নিয়ে লাইভ চ্যাটে কথা বলতে হয়েছিল — প্রায় পঁয়ত্রিশ মিনিট। একটা ডিপোজিটে আগের সেশন থেকে কপি করা মার্চেন্ট নম্বর ব্যবহার হয়েছিল আর সেটা পনেরো মিনিট না-মেলা অবস্থায় বসে ছিল। আর একটা Upay চেষ্টা ব্যর্থ হয়েছিল কারণ পথটাই বন্ধ ছিল, যা নিজে থেকেই মিটে গেছে। তিনটের কোনোটাতেই দ্বিতীয় লেনদেন লাগেনি, আর প্রথমটা না-মেলা অবস্থায় থাকতে আরেকটা পাঠালে সমস্যাটা অনেক বেশি ক্লান্তিকর হয়ে ওঠে।

The operator takes nothing on a deposit. Rocket and Upay may, depending on how each classifies the transfer and what kind of account it leaves from. Check the wallet’s own schedule inside its app rather than assuming, because the cashier cannot see that side of the transaction at all.
